Manpower Inc. is a strategic partner of the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 6th-7th June.
Over 400 of Asia's leading decision-makers from business, government, academia and civil society from over 50 countries will participate in the 19th World Economic Forum on East Asia, the first time that this meeting will be held in Vietnam. The meeting is co-hosted by the Government of Vietnam.
Under the theme "Rethinking Asia's Leadership Agenda", the program explores many facets of the region's rising economic influence, such as how high-growth economies can improve their competitiveness through developing innovation-driven, green economies. At the same time, the discussions will consider to what extent ongoing regional integration will serve as the basis for Asian leaders to assume a greater leadership role in global cooperation.
Manpower Inc. Chairman and CEO, Jeffrey A. Joerres, will participate in the session titled Asia's Next Generation of Talent.
Asia's Next Generation of Talent
Nearly 30% of Chinese University graduates are expected to be unemployed, yet the corporate sector often cites a skills gap. How can leaders from government and business better align the supply and demand in the labor market with education systems to more effectively harness Asia's large talent pool.
Objective and key discussion points:
- In what ways can business, government and academic institutions establish a constructive dialogue to ensure adequacy between private sector needs and education programs.
- What are the key priorities for reform in Asian education systems at present? Are there any strengths that should be preserved and built on?
- How can tertiary and lower-level education programs be built in a complementary fashion to ensure the development of both critical thinking and practical skills among students?
