CEOs Lead C-Suite Discussion on Strengthening the Competitiveness of the U.S. Labor Market Through Upskilling
MILWAUKEE , (September 28, 2016) When skills cycles are shorter than ever and up to 65 percent of the jobs Generation Z will perform don’t even exist yet, upskilling America’s future workforce is one of the critical challenges of our time. Jonas Prising, Chairman & CEO of ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN), will join Greg Cappelli, Director & Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Education Group, for an animated and action-oriented discussion on the critical role for employers in upskilling the 21st Century workforce on Thursday, Sept. 29.
Prising and Cappelli will be joined by Rebecca Haley, Vice President of Human Resources at Genesis Healthcare, and Dale Jones, President and CEO of Diversified Search. The panel will be moderated by Mark Hamrick, Washington Bureau Chief and Senior Economic Analyst for Bankrate.com.
“At ManpowerGroup, we believe businesses have an important role to play in the communities in which they operate – and upskilling people is part of that,” Prising said. “Working with more than 400,000 businesses and placing over 3.4 million people into work each year, we know which skills employers want and where. We’re looking forward to sharing practical solutions to help individuals gain new skills while businesses succeed, ensuring the U.S. can compete globally with a workforce prepared for the jobs of today, tomorrow and the future.”
According to ManpowerGroup’s latest Talent Shortage Survey, 38 percent of employers globally report difficulties filling jobs. Meeting their skills needs will require a fundamental rethink of talent management and specifically how learning happens. Earlier this year, ManpowerGroup and Apollo Education Group announced a partnership that offers eligible Manpower associates the opportunity to achieve college degrees at no personal cost. Part of Manpower’s MyPath program, employees can gain in-demand qualifications while they work and while they’re supported by ManpowerGroup’s expert career coaches.
“Addressing the skills gaps that exist across so many industries is one of the critical challenges facing this country,” Cappelli said. “It’s more important than ever that adults and working learners have access to innovative educational resources that will give them the skills they need today to lead the workforce of tomorrow.”
